Best Forex VPS Providers (2026): Cheap MT4 and MT5 VPS Compared

The best forex VPS providers give you a Windows server that runs MetaTrader 4 or 5 around the clock, close to your broker’s trading servers. For most retail traders the choice comes down to three routes: a free VPS sponsored by your broker (if you trade enough volume), MetaTrader’s own built-in VPS, or a paid Windows VPS from a specialist such as ForexVPS.net, NYC Servers or TradingFXVPS. Budget general-purpose hosts like Cloudzy and Kamatera also sell Windows servers in the right cities.
This guide compares those options on price, location, Windows licensing and the conditions attached to “free” plans. Codixology built it from vendors’ and brokers’ published plans and terms and the pages that already rank for this topic, not from any single vendor’s marketing. Prices were read on official pricing pages in October 2026.
Important: This is not financial or trading advice. A VPS keeps your trading platform online; it does not make a strategy profitable or reduce trading risk by itself.

Why Forex Traders Use a VPS
A VPS (virtual private server) is a rented computer in a data center that you control over Remote Desktop. Traders use one for two reasons.
Uptime for expert advisors. An expert advisor (EA) is an automated trading program that runs inside MetaTrader. It only works while the platform is open and connected. On a home PC, a Windows update, a power cut or a Wi-Fi drop stops it. A VPS runs in a data center with backup power and network, so the platform keeps running when your laptop is closed.
Lower latency to the broker. Latency is the time a message takes to travel between your platform and your broker’s server, measured in milliseconds (ms). Placing the VPS in the same data center or city as the broker shortens that trip. MetaQuotes, for example, advertises 0 to 5 ms latency for its VPS versus delays “from 100 ms” on a home PC. Lower latency can reduce the gap between the price you see and the price you get, but it matters most for EAs that trade often.
If you trade manually a few times a week, a VPS may add little. It earns its cost when you run EAs, copy trades or need the platform online while you sleep or travel.
Where Broker Servers Live: London LD4, New York NY4 and More
Many forex brokers host their trading servers in a handful of large financial data centers. Two names come up again and again:
- Equinix LD4 at Slough Trading Estate, just west of London, UK.
- Equinix NY4 at Secaucus, New Jersey, across the river from New York City.
IC Markets, for example, says its trading servers are at Equinix NY4 and LD5. Specialist hosts name these sites directly: NYC Servers lists NY4, LD4, TY3 (Tokyo), SG1 (Singapore), HK1 (Hong Kong) and DUB1 (Dublin).
To find your broker’s location, check its website or ask support which data center hosts your account’s trade server. Then pick a VPS in that facility or at least that city, and measure the ping from the VPS during a trial.
Why a Forex VPS Usually Runs Windows
MetaQuotes offers the MetaTrader 5 desktop app as a “free download for computers running Windows”, and forex VPS hosts build their MT4 and MT5 plans on Windows Server. That is why nearly every forex VPS runs Windows.
Windows needs a license, and this is where cheap plans can mislead. Cloudzy’s forex page, for instance, says its plans include a Windows trial license and that you activate permanently with your own key. Kamatera prices Windows into its Windows VPS plans and lists separate license fees. Forex specialists such as ForexVPS.net, NYC Servers and TradingFXVPS list Windows Server on their plans. Before you buy, confirm whether a licensed copy of Windows is included in the price.
Broker-Sponsored Free Forex VPS Programs
Several brokers pay for a VPS if you trade enough. These programs can be the cheapest forex VPS of all, but the conditions matter.
| Broker | What the free VPS includes | Condition (as published) |
|---|---|---|
| IC Markets | Standard: 1 CPU, 2 GB RAM, 60 GB; Pro: 2 CPU, 4 GB, 80 GB; Premium: 4 CPU, 6 GB, 90 GB; Windows Server | 15, 30 or 75 lots per calendar month in forex and metals; canceled after two months below the minimum |
| Pepperstone (UK) | Basic plan: 1 CPU core, 3 GB RAM, 40 GB, Windows Server 2019 | FCA terms (dated November 2023): trading volume of USD 1,000,000 or more over 60 days, checked monthly; access suspended if not met |
IC Markets also notes that the VPS is a third-party service it does not control or guarantee. Specialist hosts run similar schemes: ForexVPS.net and NYC Servers both say they partner with brokers to offer free VPS service.
The catch is that a volume target can nudge you to trade more than your strategy calls for. Pay for a VPS instead if you would not otherwise hit the target.
The Best Forex VPS Providers, From Cheap to Specialist
MetaTrader VPS (MetaQuotes)
MetaQuotes, the company behind MetaTrader, rents a virtual server directly from inside the platform. You pick the server nearest your broker, pay through your MQL5.community account, and move your EAs and signal subscriptions to it. It is built to keep your MetaTrader environment running rather than to act as a general Windows desktop.
Pricing is about $15 a month, falling to $13 (3 months), $10.83 (6 months) or $10 (12 months) per month on longer terms, with a 24-hour free trial that switches to a paid plan automatically (October 2026, check the current price). MetaQuotes lists more than thirty hosting points and advertises latency of 96% of broker servers under 10 ms. Resources are capped at up to 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of disk.
Best for: Traders who want EAs running 24/7 without managing a Windows server.
Watch out for: Resource caps (up to 3 GB RAM and 16 GB disk) and automatic billing after the 24-hour trial.
TradingFXVPS
TradingFXVPS sells forex-specific Windows VPS plans starting at about $17.50 a month for 1 core, 2 GB DDR5 RAM and 30 GB NVMe, with larger plans at about $22.11, $33.75 and $63.75 (October 2026, check the current price). It lists New York, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Chicago, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.
There is a seven-day trial for $3.99 and a 30-day money-back guarantee on monthly VPS plans. Plans include off-site backups four times a week and a remote trade copier, and the SLA is 99.99%.
Best for: Budget-minded traders who want a forex-tuned VPS with a cheap trial.
Watch out for: The page advertises savings on annual billing, but the listed annual prices equal 12 monthly payments, so confirm before prepaying.
NYC Servers
NYC Servers’ Basic VPS costs about $20.83 a month, or about $16.67 a month billed yearly ($200), for 2 cores, 2 GB DDR5 RAM and 60 GB NVMe, aimed at 1 to 2 trading accounts. Standard (4 GB, 3 to 6 accounts) is about $33.33 and Professional (8 GB, 7 to 8 accounts) about $50 (October 2026, check the current price).
Its strength is location clarity: it names NY4, LD4, TY3, SG1, HK1 and DUB1, and claims about 1 ms or less to most brokers. Plan pages show MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView as preinstalled, with Windows Server 2022 or Ubuntu, a dedicated IP and a 14-day refund policy on VPS services.
Best for: Traders whose broker is in NY4 or LD4 and who run a few accounts.
Watch out for: No free trial, and dedicated servers are non-refundable.
ForexVPS.net
ForexVPS.net’s Core plan lists at $40 a month for 2 CPUs, 4 GB RAM and 100 GB storage (1 to 2 terminals), or about $28.80 a month on annual billing ($345.60 a year). Edge (6 GB, 2 to 3 terminals) and Prime (8 GB, 3 to 5+ terminals) cost more (October 2026, check the current price).
It lists 22 data center locations including London, New York, Tokyo and Zurich, Windows Server 2019 to 2025, a dedicated IP, one-click MetaTrader deployment and a 14-day money-back guarantee. It claims orders can reach the market in as little as 1 ms. IC Markets’ VPS page lists ForexVPS among its options, with MT4 preinstalled.
Best for: Traders running several terminals who want many location choices.
Watch out for: The page shows different monthly figures in different places ($40 list, $36 in its plan recommender), so check the checkout total.
Cloudzy
Cloudzy has the lowest sticker price in this list. Its forex VPS plans start at about $3.48 a month on a 50% promotion ($6.95 regular) for 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM and 25 GB NVMe, with a 2 GB plan at about $7.48 promo ($14.95 regular) (October 2026, check the current price). Locations include New York, Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Dubai, Singapore and Sydney.
Plans include full RDP admin access, IPv4 and IPv6, a 99.95% uptime SLA and a 14-day money-back guarantee. Cloudzy describes single-digit millisecond round trips to LD4, NY4 and TY3 when the VPS is in the same metro as the broker.
Best for: Cheap MT4 VPS hosting for one or two charts, if you have your own Windows license.
Watch out for: The included Windows license is a trial, MetaTrader is not preinstalled, and the headline price is promotional.
Kamatera
Kamatera is a general cloud provider rather than a forex specialist. Its Windows VPS plans start at about $31 a month for 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 30 GB NVMe, with Windows Server 2016 to 2025 available (October 2026, check the current price). It lists locations in New York, Chicago, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Singapore and more.
Billing is hourly or monthly, and there is a 30-day free trial for one server worth up to $100 (credit card required). Read our full Kamatera review for the licensing and refund details.
Best for: Traders who want to size a Windows server exactly or run other business software on it.
Watch out for: No forex-specific setup, and Remote Desktop user licenses cost extra for multi-user access.

Best VPS Server for MT4 and MT5: How Much RAM and CPU
Vendors size their entry plans in a similar range:
- One terminal, a few charts: 1 to 2 GB of RAM. Cloudzy pitches 1 GB for a single chart; NYC Servers pitches 2 GB for 1 to 2 accounts.
- Two to five terminals or heavier EAs: 4 to 8 GB of RAM and 2 to 4 cores.
- Backtesting and optimization: More cores and RAM, or run tests on your own PC instead of the VPS.
Windows Server itself uses part of that memory, so leave headroom. If the VPS feels slow over Remote Desktop, close unused charts before buying a bigger plan.
Security Basics for a Trading VPS
A trading VPS holds logins to accounts with real money, so lock it down:
- Use a long, unique Windows password and change any default credentials on day one.
- Restrict Remote Desktop to your IP address where the host’s firewall allows it.
- Turn on two-factor authentication for your hosting account and your broker account.
- Install Windows updates on a schedule outside market hours, so a reboot does not stop an EA mid-trade.
- Keep copies of your EAs and settings off the VPS in case you need to rebuild it.
How to Choose a Forex VPS
- Find your broker’s server location and choose a VPS in the same data center or city.
- Check whether your broker sponsors a free VPS and whether you would meet the volume rules without changing how you trade.
- Count your terminals and EAs to size RAM and CPU.
- Confirm Windows licensing is included, not a trial.
- Compare monthly and annual pricing, and read the refund window before prepaying. Our guide to annual vs monthly software billing covers the trade-off.
- Test before you commit. Use a trial or the money-back window to check ping and stability during your trading hours.
A Practical Example: A Part-Time EA Trader
Consider a hypothetical part-time trader who runs one EA on two currency pairs with a broker whose servers are in London. She trades well below her broker’s free VPS volume target, so the sponsored option is out.
She compares MetaTrader VPS at about $10 to $15 a month with a forex-specific Windows VPS at about $17.50 to $21 a month. Because she only needs the EA running and does not want to manage Windows, she starts with the MetaTrader VPS trial. If she later adds a second platform or a trade copier, she would move to a full Windows VPS in a London data center.
The VPS changes one thing for her: the EA keeps running when her laptop sleeps. It does not change whether the EA’s strategy makes or loses money.
Common Mistakes When Choosing a Forex VPS
- Buying a VPS far from the broker. A cheap server on the wrong continent adds latency instead of removing it.
- Assuming a VPS improves results. It improves uptime and can lower latency; it does not fix a strategy.
- Missing the Windows license detail. A trial license can expire and stop your platform.
- Chasing a broker’s free VPS volume target. Trading more to earn a free server can cost far more than the server.
- Prepaying a year before testing. Use the trial or money-back window first.
- Leaving Remote Desktop wide open. A weak password on an open RDP port invites brute-force login attempts.
- Running backtests on the live VPS. Heavy optimization can slow the terminal that is trading.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a VPS for forex trading? +
Not always. A VPS helps if you run expert advisors, copy trades or need the platform online 24/7. If you trade manually and close the platform when you are done, a home PC is usually enough.
Does a forex VPS improve trading results? +
No. A VPS keeps your platform running and can reduce latency to the broker. It does not make a strategy profitable or reduce market risk. This guide is not financial or trading advice.
What is the best cheap forex VPS? +
If you qualify, a broker-sponsored VPS is free. Otherwise, MetaTrader VPS starts at about $10 to $15 a month, and forex-specific Windows VPS plans start around $17.50 to $21 (October 2026). Very cheap general plans may include only a trial Windows license.
Which VPS location is best for MT4? +
The one closest to your broker’s trade server. Many brokers use Equinix LD4 near London or NY4 in New Jersey. Ask your broker which data center hosts your account.
How much RAM does an MT4 VPS need? +
For one or two terminals, 1 to 2 GB is the common entry point vendors recommend. Several terminals or heavy EAs need 4 to 8 GB.
Can I get a free forex VPS? +
Yes, from some brokers if you meet their trading volume rules. IC Markets requires 15 to 75 lots a month depending on the tier, and Pepperstone’s UK terms require USD 1,000,000 in volume over 60 days.
Can I run MT4 on a Linux VPS? +
MetaQuotes offers the MetaTrader 5 desktop app for Windows, and forex VPS hosts build around Windows Server. Using Windows avoids compatibility problems with EAs and indicators.
What ping should I expect on a forex VPS? +
Vendors in the same data center as the broker advertise around 1 ms, and MetaQuotes advertises 0 to 5 ms. These are vendor claims, so measure the ping yourself during a trial.
The Bottom Line
The best forex VPS is the one closest to your broker, running licensed Windows, at a price that makes sense for how often you trade. Check for a broker-sponsored VPS first, consider MetaTrader VPS if you only need EAs online, and choose a specialist like NYC Servers, TradingFXVPS or ForexVPS.net when you need a full Windows desktop near LD4 or NY4.
Remember what a VPS does and does not do. It keeps your platform online and close to the market. It does not improve a strategy, and nothing here is financial advice.
